Recently, I changed the ISP Provider. So I had to setup my router again with my new modem. So I performed factory reset on my router. but ever since I did that, my router has a flashing orange light and there is no internet connectivity.
Also, When I try to open the router admin page through 192.168.1.1. I get the modem admin page. what should be the issue?
Hi,
It looks like your modem and router is obtaining the ip address from the same class that's why you are having this issue with your router. So you need to change the ip address of your router.
After that, you need to connect the modem with the router. it will start working fine.
You may follow the instructions below to change the ip address on the netgear router.
- Disconnect your router from the modem and connect it with the computer only.
- Also, disconnect the modem from the computer if it is connected through wifi
- Now open the browser on your computer and type the router's Ip address 192.168.1.1. Now press the enter button.
- Once, you will log into the admin panel, you need to click on the internet settings option.
- Here, you need to click on the Lan setup option.
- Let's scroll down to reach to the Default gateway (IP address section), Finally change your ip address from 192.168.1.1 to 10.0.0.1
- Click on the apply changes button
If you have changed the ip address but your router is still flashing orange. you need to perform mac cloning on your device.
- Open the netgear router admin panel. to do that, you need to go to the routerlogin.net. now enter your username and password and press sign in.
- Go to the internet section, and click on the LAN setup option
- Here, you need to scroll down to reach to the mac cloning option.
- Select use computer's mac address.
- Now click on the apply changes button
That's it, now your router will reboot itself, and then you will see a solid blue internet light on the netgear smart wifi router.
