My lenovo ideapad 1 laptop is not showing the wireless connection icon on the screen. Also, I have checked the Network & internet settings. there is no wifi feature available. All i can see is, Mobile hotspot, VPN, Airplane mode and other options.

So I am completely confused? Is my Wireless card failed or this is a windows or driver related issue.

Please help me in troubleshooting this problem.

It looks like the driver is missing from your device. that's why you are unable to see the wifi symbol. To ensure that, you need to go the device manager. Here are the way to do that.
1. first of all, you need to press windows + R button on your laptop.
2. Type devmgmt.msc in the run box.
3. Press ok button.
4. Once you will get into the device manager, you need to click on the network adapters.
5. Here, you need to check that if the driver is available or not.
6. If the driver is not available, you need to download it from the official website and then install it on your pc.

Have you tried to restart the WLAN service from windows service manager. sometimes, wifi icon doesn't pops up because wireless services are disabled.

So you need to go to the service manager and restart the WLAN service.

  • Open Run box and type services.msc.
  • Press ok button.
  • Once you will see windows service manager on your screen, you need to look for WLAN service.
  • Select WLAN service and click on the restart. if it is stopped, you need to click on the start.

Now check if you can see the wifi icon now or not?

I had a similar problem with my lenovo laptop. whenever I was doing cold boot on my lenovo G40 laptop. windows were not loading the files. due to which, it was not showing the wifi feature.

So solve that, I had to log off the user account and login again.

You may also try this trick to troubleshoot the problem.

if this issue is coming after windows or driver update. you need to reset the computer to the factory settings. after that, your laptop will start working fine.

  • Open the command prompt.
  • Type rstrui.exe.
  • Press enter button.
  • Select the restore point, when your wifi was working properly.
  • Press next button.
  • Finally, press the finish button.

That's it! Now you need to wait until laptop will restore itself. once you will restore your laptop. you need to restart it. you must be seeing the wireless network now. in case, if you are still unable to see the wireless network. this could be due to the hardware problem.

In this case, you need to visit lenovo service center for more help.
