Browser Cache blocks the connection- Sometimes, a browser might not be able to connect to the Gmail server due to the cookies, extension or cache issue. 

Imap/ pop3 servers are not responding- When IMAP/ POP3 servers are not responding properly. The Gmail might take forever to load on the mail application. 

Computer/smartphone is running slow- Apart from the browser or mail applications, sometimes, computer/ smartphone might be running slow. Due to this, Gmail is loads so slowly on the device.

Examine the internet speed- 

When Gmail takes forever to load on the browser or mail application, you should check the computer settings. You should check the internet speed if the speed is very low. You need to reboot the router/modem and computer once.

Check the Gmail server status-  

If you are getting a good internet speed, but Gmail is loads so slow. Please look for the Gmail service status. Assure that the Gmail services are active without any technical glitch.

You can go to Gmail’s official Twitter handle or down detector to examine the service status. If services are slow, you need to disconnect the internet connection and then re-add the internet connection again. 

Open the Gmail on another browser- 

When Gmail is freezing up on the regular browser, you need to open it on the other browser that you don’t use often. Is it loading properly there? If yes! It means there is an issue with the Browser settings. So you need to clear the browser cookies. 

Clear the browsing data- 

If you can’t access Gmail on the regular browser, you need to clear the browsing data and then reload the Gmail account again. You need to follow the steps given below.

Clear cookies on edge browser 

  • Open the Microsoft Edge browser.(if you are using any other browser, open that browser )
  • Click on the menu button. 
  • Go to the Settings
  • Press the cookies and site permission option.
  • Jump into the all cookies and site data option. 
  • Finally, Press the remove all button. 

Disable the extensions or ad ons- 

Sometimes, Gmail is stuck at the load bar signal due to the extension or ad on issue. So you need to disable the extensions and then retry to access the data. 

Extensions for clearing the browser

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser. 
  2. Click on the Menu button. 
  3. Push the Extensions option. 
  4. Turn it off by pressing the toggle button next to the extension. 

Update the browser- 

Several times, users are having the Gmail loads so slow problem due to the outdated browser. That’s why Gmail is running slow on the browser. So update the browser by using the following techniques.

  • Open the Microsoft Edge browser. 
  • Press the menu button.
  • Hover to the Help and feedback option and Go to the about Microsoft edge option. 
  • Now edge will automatically check for the update. 

Reset the browser- 

If you have tried the above techniques, but Gmail is still freezing up on the regular browser. Please go to the advanced settings and reset the browser to the factory settings. 

  • Open the Microsoft Edge browser. 
  • Go to the settings
  • Click on the Reset settings
  • Click on the Restore settings to their default values. 
  • Press the reset button. 

Delete the Gmail labels- 

When Gmail is running slow on all browsers or mail applications, you need to check the Gmail labels if you have created too many labels on the Gmail account. Then, your mailbox will become bulky, and it might take a while in loading. 

In that a case, you need to delete the useless labels from Gmail and reload the mailbox again. 

  • Open the Gmail account on the browser. 
  • Click on the settings
  • Press the See All Settings option. 
  • Click on the Labels tab. 
  • Press the remove button available next to the label. 

Disconnect the application- 

When Gmail takes forever to load the mailbox on the browser, you need to disconnect the application linked with the Gmail account. 

  • Go to the google account manager
  • Press the security option
  • Click on the manager third-party access
  • Press the disconnect or remove the access button

Disable/enable the incoming servers- 

If Gmail is running slow on the Mail applications. There might be a problem with the incoming and outgoing servers. So you need to disable the incoming servers on your Gmail account for 2 minutes. After that, turn them back on. 

  • Open the Gmail account on the browser. 
  • Click on the settings
  • Press the See all settings option. 
  • Go to the imap/pop3 and forwarding tab. 
  • Disable the imap or pop3 server. (Whichever server you are using.)
  • Wait for 2 minutes and then enable it again.

Disable the proxy or VPN- 

A VPN or proxy server might drop the internet speed so if you are running any of these programs. You need to turn them off and then try to access The Gmail account again. 

Why Is Gmail so slow in google chrome? 

If you can’t load the Gmail account on google chrome or it keeps running so slow, you should change the following settings. 

Clear the cache data- 

  • Open the google chrome browser. 
  • Click on the settings
  • Go to privacy and security
  • Click on the clear browsing data. 
  • Choose all boxes and hit the clear data button. 

Remove the extensions- 

If Gmail is running so slow on google chrome after clearing the browsing data. You need to update the extensions. 

  • Open google chrome
  • Hover to the Tools and click on the extensions
  • Press the remove button available on the extension

Reset the browser- 

If you have already tried the above techniques, but Gmail keeps freezing up on google chrome. Please reset the browser.
