What is error code 41 on the printer?
Generally, an error code 00041 or 41 appears when the printer cannot detect the ink cartridge or some peripherals are missing while loading the driver. Apart from that, when drivers are corrupted, you will see such error codes on your device.
How Do I Fix Error Code 000041 On My Epson Printer?
Power cycle the printer & computer-
- Let’s unplug the power cord from the printer.
- Shut down the computer as well.
- Wait for a minute and then Power on the printer first.
- Now Boot the computer also.
Reinstall the printer driver-
When Epson printer is showing printer is not activated, error code 41 on your device. There might be a problem with the printer driver. Most probably, some driver files are corrupted on the printer. So you need to uninstall the printer driver from the computer and then install a printer driver.
- Open the Run box.
- Type appwiz.cpl and then press the ok button.
- Select the Epson printer driver from the list.
- Click on the uninstall button.
- Now press the Yes button on the UAC window.
- Finally, follow the procedure to uninstall the printer driver.

Clean the contact Chip on the cartridge-
Sometimes, Epson printer error code 41 appears because of the ink cartridge problem. When the Epson printer is unable to recognize the ink cartridge, you should remove the cartridge from the printer and then clean the contact chip. Now install the cartridge back into the printer.
- Power off the printer.
- Now lift the printer scanner unit.
- Unlock the ink cartridge from the computer.
- Now remove all cartridges.
- Clean the contact chip through clean clothe or an eraser.
- Now install the cartridge back into the printer.
- Power on the printer now.
Install the cartridge properly-
If you have cleaned the contact chip, the Epson printer still shows the error 000041. make sure that the cartridge is installed into the printer correctly. To remove the cartridge from the printer and then reinstall it. While doing so, you must be careful about these things.
- The ink should not be spilling out.
- Each cartridge should go into the matching slot in the printer.
- The cartridge should be locked properly.
- Make sure that the printer is detecting the cartridge.
- Ensure that you have installed the ink cartridge.
Update the printer firmware-
It does not happen often, but sometimes Error 41 keeps coming on the Epson printer due to firmware issues. When firmware files are corrupted or something is wrong with the printer driver. You should update the Epson printer firmware to make it functionable again.
- Connect the Epson printer to the computer.
- Open Epson software updater.
- Select the Epson firmware.
- Click on the update button.
Reset the Printer-
If you have tried the above instructions, but your printer is still showing the error code 00041, you should reset the printer to the factory settings. Now Setup the printer again and then try to print something.
- Go to the settings on the Epson printer.
