My lenovo thinkpad laptop is not turning on after BIOS update. Now whenever I am pressing the power button. it is showing me a steady power light but nothing comes on the screen.
Can someone tell me what could be the reason behind it?November 26, 2024 at 3:41 pm #1591Richard MarquezParticipant::Sometimes, BIOS update can leave your Lenovo laptop unresponsive. In this case, A power reset often resolves this issue. If you don’t know how to do that? Here are the guide to fix it.
- Let’s make sure your laptop is off, there is no power signal or power light.
- Disconnect your laptop from the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and charger, then try turning it on.
If this doesn’t work, check if the BIOS update was interrupted, as incomplete updates can corrupt the firmware. If so, try accessing the recovery mode:
- Power off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Novo button (small pinhole near the power button).
- Select BIOS Setup or System Recovery from the menu.

- Download the latest BIOS file for your model from Lenovo’s support website.
- Create a bootable USB drive with the downloaded file (instructions are usually provided with the BIOS update).
- Plug in the USB and restart the laptop while holding down the Fn + R keys or the Novo button to initiate recovery.
If recovery isn’t working, it may require professional assistance to reflash the BIOS.
