- Unbox your Netgear router and connect the antennae (if applicable).
- Plug the router into a power source using the included adapter.
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect the modem to the router’s Internet (WAN) port.
- Switch on your modem and wait for the lights to stabilize.
- Turn on the router and ensure that the power LED on the router is lit.
- Using a computer or smartphone, connect to the router’s Wi-Fi network.
- Default network name (SSID) and password can be found on a label on the back or bottom of the router.
- Alternatively, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the router.
- Open a web browser and type 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net in the address bar.
- Enter the default login credentials:
Username: admin
Password: password (case-sensitive). - Follow the on-screen setup wizard to configure your internet connection.

- Unplug both your modem and router from the power source.
- Wait for about 2 minutes.
- Plug in the modem first, wait until it stabilizes, then reconnect the router.
- Check if the orange light turns green or blue, indicating a stable connection.
- Ensure that the Ethernet cable between your modem and the router is securely connected
- Check for damaged or loose cables, and replace them if necessary.
- Confirm that the cables are connected to the correct ports.
- If none of these steps works for you. you need to reset the router to the factory settings, and then setup your netgear router
