Usually, people are unable to get notifications because of the synchronization issue. So you need to go to the Gmail settings on the android phone. Here you need to check the fetch settings.
if fetch settings are enabled but you are still unable to get notifications, you need to make the following changes into the android phone.
1. Check Notification Settings in Gmail
- Open the Gmail app.
- Tap the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top-left corner.
- Scroll down and tap Settings.
- Select your email account.
- Under the Notifications section, ensure it's set to All or High priority only if you want to receive notifications for all emails or important ones.
2. Check Android Notification Settings
- Go to Settings on your Android device.
- Tap Apps or Apps & notifications.
- Select Gmail from the list.
- Tap Notifications, and make sure that notifications are enabled.
- You can also check if any specific categories of notifications (like Inbox, Promotions, etc.) are turned off.
3. Ensure Battery Optimization Is Not Blocking Gmail
- Some Android devices have battery optimization settings that can limit background activity.
- Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization.
- Find Gmail in the list and select Don’t optimize to prevent it from being restricted in the background.
- Check Sync Settings
- Open the Gmail app, tap the three lines menu in the top-left corner, and go to Settings.
- Make sure Sync Gmail is checked. If sync is off, Gmail won’t receive or send new email notifications.
- Turn Off "Do Not Disturb" Mode
- Check if your device’s Do Not Disturb mode is on, which may silence notifications.
- Go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Do Not Disturb and ensure it’s disabled or configured to allow Gmail notifications.
4. Clear Cache and Data
- Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Gmail > Storage.
- Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data (note that clearing data will log you out, but it can resolve notification issues).
- Update Gmail and Android System
- Make sure both your Gmail app and Android system are up to date.
- Open the Google Play Store, search for Gmail, and check if an update is available.
- Also, go to Settings > Software Update to ensure your device has the latest Android version.
5. Reboot Your Device
- A simple restart can sometimes fix notification issues. Try restarting your Android phone and check if notifications start working properly.
6. Uninstall and Reinstall Gmail
- If the issue persists, try uninstalling the Gmail app and reinstalling it from the Play Store. This can fix any app-specific glitches.
